Accurate Industries load cells
We supply two of our own families, made to our specification and serial numbered, so we can trace any cell we have supplied back to its certificate years later. Both carry the same electrical specification.

Read every load cell without pulling a single wire
On a multi cell weigher the hard part of a load cell fault is not fixing it, it is finding which cell is at fault. Normally that means opening the junction box and disconnecting cells one at a time, in the weather, with the conveyor down.
Our load cell switching PCB replaces the standard junction box and lets a technician switch to each cell in turn and read it on its own, without disconnecting anything. It comes fitted in a stainless steel IP65 enclosure, in one and four cell versions, and it suits any make of weigher because it sits between the cells and the integrator.
It is the difference between a diagnosis that takes ten minutes and one that takes a shift, and it is worth fitting before you need it rather than after.

Between them, the belt weighers we look after around the country carry every mounting style and nearly every capacity made, so for our own customers a replacement cell is usually already on file. If we have never been to your site that changes nothing: a load cell is defined by its capacity, type, rated output and wiring rather than by the badge on the weigher, so tell us those and we can match it.

Five things off the old cell and we can match it
Most of what we need is stamped on the cell itself or printed on the label. A photo of the cell and its label answers most of this in one go.

The rating stamped on the body, in kg or lb.
- 2Type and mounting
S type, shear beam, bending beam or bellows, and how it is held: rod ends, clevis, or bolted flat.
- 3Rated output
The mV/V figure on the label, usually 2 or 3.

One, two or four on the weigher, so we can supply a matched set.
- 5Cable and wiring
Cable length you need, and whether the weigher is wired four wire or six wire.
If we already maintain the weigher, you only need to tell us which conveyor: the cell details are on file from the last calibration. If you are not sure of any of it, send a photo of the cell and its label and we will work it out.

Plenty of the belt weighers on Australian sites are older than the companies that made them. When the original cell is no longer made, that is usually where the conversation with the original supplier ends.
It is not where ours ends. We supply the parts to get a weigher working again, like for like where the part still exists and a sound equivalent where it does not, and we will tell you honestly which one you are getting. Where a weigher has reached the end of its life we will say so and quote the replacement, because a machine that needs a repair every shutdown is costing more than it looks.

Load cell frequently asked questions
Can you supply a load cell for any make of belt weigher?
In nearly every case, yes. A load cell is defined by its capacity, its type and mounting, its rated output and its wiring rather than by the badge on the weigher, so if you can tell us those we can supply a cell that fits. Send a photo of the cell and its label if you are not sure.
How do I know which load cell has failed?
With the belt empty and stopped, measure the excitation across each cell and then its signal output. A cell reading far from the others, a signal that will not settle, or an insulation reading down in the megohms rather than the thousands of megohms all point at that cell or its cable. Water in a junction box gives very similar symptoms, so check that before condemning a cell. Our guide to belt weigher load cells walks through the checks in order.
Do I have to replace all the load cells at once?
On a multi cell weigher it is usually best to. Cells share the load, so a new cell of a slightly different sensitivity sitting beside three aged ones gives you a weigher that reads differently depending on where the material sits across the belt. If budget means replacing one, tell us the others so we can match the new cell to them as closely as possible.
What does C3 mean on a load cell?
It is the accuracy class the cell was made and tested to, covering how closely it follows the load through its range, how well it returns to zero and how much it drifts with temperature. C3 is the class normally used for belt weighers and it is what our own cells are rated to. It describes the cell, not the weigher: a C3 cell in a worn weigh frame still gives a poor result.
Does the load cell come with a certificate?
Yes. Every cell we supply comes with its test certificate showing rated output, zero balance and the resistance readings for that cell. We record the serial number of every cell we supply against the weigher it went into, so we can produce the certificate again years later.
Do you supply the mounting hardware as well?
Yes. Rod ends, tie rod kits, clevis blocks and reducers, spherical washer sets and ball and cup assemblies, and the junction boxes that go with them. Worn mounting hardware causes load cell symptoms often enough that it is worth changing while the weigher is open.
What is a load cell switching junction box?
It is our own board, fitted in place of the standard junction box, that lets a technician switch to each load cell in turn and read it on its own without disconnecting anything. On a four cell weigher that turns finding a faulty cell from an hour of pulling wires apart in the weather into a couple of minutes with a multimeter. It comes in a stainless steel IP65 enclosure, in one and four cell versions, and it suits any make of weigher because it sits between the cells and the integrator.
